Heart Attack and Cholesterol

The blood cholesterol  levels are directly associated with the occurrence of the heart attack. The high blood Cholesterol Level leads to the blockade of arteries and results in insufficient blood flow. It also aids in the formation of atherosclerosis plaque. Naturally, the occurrence of cholesterol is found in all foods of animal origin and it is controlled by various factors including the amount absorbed from food, the rate of catabolism, rate of excretion in the bile, Intestinal absorption of bile acids and equilibrium between plasma and tissue.

The blood cholesterol numbers acts as the best indicators of cholesterol level in body. The blood cholesterol level plays a major role in the occurrence of heart attack and High level of blood cholesterol is considered as the major risk factors for heart attack.

When there are high levels of cholesterol in the blood then it slowly builds up in the walls of the arteries. With passage of time, this leads to hardening of the arteries and they become narrowed. This results in obstruction in the blood flow to the heart. This blood carries oxygen to the heart, and its insufficiency leads to chest pain due to death of myocardial tissues. If case, the blood supply to the heart is blocked completely, it results in a heart attack. The High blood cholesterol level does not present any symptoms in the earlier stages and that is the reason that people are not aware off high cholesterol level.

In the chronic stages, the high cholesterol symptoms are observed in many other organs. It is important to lower the cholesterol levels as it helps in reducing the risk for developing heart disease and chances of a heart attack. It is crucial for everyone to lower the cholesterol no matter the age of the person.
